Walk 3: Farnsfield and Edingley

A circular walk across fields from Farnsfield to the next village of Edingley, returning across other fields, tracks and Brickyard Lane.

Start:  Farnsfield Co-op

Distance:  4.6 km

Map of Route

From the Co-op entrance turn down Tippings Lane.  At the end of the car park turn left along a surfaced jitty, Sunnyside, that runs between gardens and houses.  At the far end after 150m you reach Quaker Lane.  Turn right and after 10m cross the road to join an alleyway between houses.  This soon becomes a path which reaches a crossroads of paths in 100m.   Bear slightly right along a path with houses to your right.  Cross a cul-de-sac road after 80m and continue along the path to reach the corner of a wide track in another 50m.

Go almost straight on along the track aiming for the Acres playing fields from Walk 1.  Don't go onto the Acres but turn left just before along a wide track which goes past the entrance to the allotments.  At the end of the track go past a gate into a small grass area then over a stile into a field.  Follow a path between a hedge and a wire fence for 300m to reach Cotton Mill Farm.

Turn right along the farm track and in 50m go left through a small gate into a field with a stream just to your right.  Follow the stream through two fields then just to the left leave the field over a narrow footbridge.  Cross Allesford Lane and go into another field which you cross.  Join a track with trees on your right and keep straight on over the driveway to a house.  Go on into a grassy field and keep on through more fields until reaching the driveway next to Edingley church.  Turn left to reach the road which you cross and then turn left.

Take the path a little past the Reindeer pub that goes off to the right near some allotments.  The path is good at first but gets muddy after wet weather as you cross the fields to reach the wide track that becomes Brickyard Lane and turn left.

Follow this track for a kilometre all the way into Farnsfield.  The first little section can be a bit muddy but after that the track becomes firmer.  Before long the track becomes Brickyard Lane, a well-surfaced road, which comes out near the bottom of The Ridgeway where it meets the Main Street.  Cross The Ridgeway and go onto Main Street.  Turn right to go past The Plough pub and continue along for 250m to reach the Co-op again when you cross the street where the walk started.
